Here is my problem. My wife and I have 2 separate computers, both have iTunes loaded on them. Mine however has all the music loaded into it. I share this music in iTunes and she can pull up my library on her iTunes. She has her own Apple iTunes Store account and she loads her own apps and syncs her iPhone on her computer. Her iPhone syncs with her outlook contacts/calendar. I do the same on mine however I am able to add music to my iPhone because I have the library and she doesn't. What is the process to sync music on her iPhone without having to copy all the music to her computer? I would like to plug her iPhone into my computer and sync just some playlists but not have it sync my calender/contacts/email/photos, etc.
Thanks Windows XP Pro

if she can access your library (shared) that means she can access your iTunes files. In that case just go to iTunes preferences on her computer and click on ADVANCED, there UNCHECK the box named COPY FILES TO ITUNES MUSIC FOLDER WHEN ADING TO LIBRARY.
When you do so, her library is just mapping your files but not moving the files to her hard drive. Once she does that she can build play lists, select and de-select songs, etc and that does not affect your library settings.
Each one syncs each iPhone with a different user profile, hence nothing is messed up.
I do this in two ways:
My wife and I share an iMac so we have two different users and each one syncs the iPhone under its own profile. Our son access our library from his iMac on the network and he syncs his iPod Touch... if you go to the support page and search for the topic you will get pretty much what I explained above.
This is a good article to start with... it applies to two computers if both can see the iTunes library that is shared. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203
I hope it helps, iMac 24 @ 3GHz, iMac 20 @2GHz - iPod Touch - iPhone 2.1 - Macbook Air 1.8 GHz Mac OS X (10.5.5) Aperture - Photoshop CS3 - Office 08 - Chronossync - SONOS - ? since Vista 07

Ok now what happens if I add songs to my itunes. Do they add to hers as well? Because I don't think this happens. This is one reason why I haven't done it this way. I don't know why Apple can't make it so you can have itunes share databases if all the files are on a shared drive that way when someone adds new music both people see it. Windows XP Pro

I know other people have this problem. Maybe I should ask in a forum where people actually try and help others. Dell Dimension E510 Windows XP Pro
