I have the same problem. Existing pictures are fine, but new ones are fuzzy / blurry as if they are stuck in a stretched thumbnail mode. :9 MacBook Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5.2)

Also, when i save the image, its a 90 kb 800 x 600 jpg. When I save it, and it becomes blurry, if I email it to my desktop, it gets sent as a 160 x 120 6 kb file. MacBook Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5.2)

One last bit of info. If I connect my iPhone to my PC and browse the photos, they show up fine in the original state. So the Photo App is rendering them smaller as a thumbnail, and using this small file to display and also email. Please fix. MacBook Core 2 Duo Mac OS X (10.5.2)

We (other users) cannot do firmware fixes. Only Apple can do that. Here, in this forum, you are talking to us, not to Apple. Mac OS X (10.5.4)

I think that you can confirm this one as a "known issue". Too bad, alot of the other features are really cool looking, but wrecking all the pictures that my wife emailed me might just be a deal breaker on 2.2
I'm sure they'll fix this soon, and it doesn't seem to have permanently wrecked your pictures that are saved to the phone, just the way that they display.
Oh, well.... MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.5.5)

I too see this problem with the 2.2 update. Seems it only buggered about half my photos, some of which were sent to me via e-mail. Large images sent via e-mail seem to be affected, while smaller ones are not.

Same problem here but only on my wife's iPhone after the upgrade (not mine). Really strange behavior. Oh well, I guess we'll have to wait for 2.2.1. iPhone 3G Other OS v2.2

this is a wide-spread problem. Here are a few related links I found, that may help to understand the problem:
