Graffiti apps let you leave notes behind at a physical location without breaking any city ordinances. Open one of these apps, tap out your comment—"Do not order the Cosmo here, it's terrible"—and upload it. Others who use the same app can check that location for any useful graffiti from you, This is an interesting new wrinkle to location-sensing that will be really useful if we all start playing along. The execution doesn't currently live up to this potential, however. GeoGraffiti is voice-based, and Graffitio is text-based. The former is mostly clogged with ads for local stores and marketing jargon rather than real—world observations. The latter reads like Craigslist Rants and Raves: subliterate paeans like "Denver Broncos rule," "Yo’ momma," and "Who is out there?" Still, we're looking forward to the potential of these tools.
