No matter how Apple Inc.’s rivals deny it, this is definitely an iPhone-era where most of them, including the GPS makers, are creating new products that would somehow compete with Apple Inc.’s latest 3G iPhone.
Recently, Garmin said in an interview that they have a new GPS device which they call the Nuvi 880. And just like the latest release from Apple Inc. the Nuvi 880 also has all features that a mobile phone user needs.
The Nuvi 880 can also serve as a player that can let you hear your audio books as well as your music files. It can also give directions, lets you view photos, and can be your personal alarm clock.
The 3G iPhone can give you directions too. However, you have to tap for each and every turn that you make, making it more dangerous for the drivers. The Nuvi 880 on the other hand, only requires your loud and clear voice so that you will know how to go to the destination of your choice.
The Nuvi 880 allows you to see pictures on its screen. Unfortunately, you have to upload it from your computer and not capture images using the device. Round 2 probably goes to the iPhone this time.
An improved version will be out in the market and expected to hit the shelves next year. Instead of naming it as Nuvi 880, Garmin will simply call as Nuvifone.
