Restore Properly/On going issues 3G

in iPhone

Ok well i did a restore today cause i guess there was a newer version of the 2.0 firmware. So i updated that due to these issues:-scrolling through contacts is jittery/sluggish-opening up windows on the phone takes longer than i think it should-the text alert dissappears, and i have to restart the phone for it to come back-scrolling through photos when they are thumbnails is jittery/sluggishSo i did this:(copy/pasted from another thread)Go to settings > General> About:If your firmware is 2.0(5A345) try a restore/update. This should put it to 2.0 (5A347).Now my main question is, after a restore it deleted my music and contacts. How come it didnt reset my ringtones/settings/home screen icon placements etc. Or doesnt it do that? Or did this restore not properly go through?? I was under the impresssion it resets the phone back to the day i took it out of the box.sorry for the long post...

A restore does set a phone back to the day you took it out of the box... However, you probably noticed that after the restore was completed it asked you if you wanted to restore from a backup. You said yes and all of your previous settings and such were restored (yay). To answer your question: yes the restore went through properly!

Normally restore wipes everything out, and back to basic. I made a huge mistake of canceling my back-up sync because it was taking over 30 minutes to back up, sometimes even over an hour. Because I made that big mistake, I lost all my contacts.  Now I gotta go find them and put their numbers back into the phone. Well at least it still has my ringtones and songs so it's ok, lol.

See, now i dont understand why your backup syncs are taking so long, unless you are copying over all of the apps that you have on your iphone.  my backups only take no more than 30seconds...
